Wichita Aero Club Humphrey Scholarship Fund

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Applicants must be a resident of the United States or authorized to work in the United States. If an applicant is a resident of Kansas, he or she may attend an educational institution outside the state of Kansas. If the applicant resides outside the state of Kansas, they must attend an educational institution in the state of Kansas to qualify for a scholarship award.
  • Applicants shall be pursuing an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree at an accredited educational institution (includes undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees), shall be considered a full-time student (as per the school’s requirements), and have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a field of study reflecting the values of Mr. Humphrey’s career at Cessna Aircraft Company, including, but not limited to, standard business disciplines such as accounting, communications, finance, human resources or marketing.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated involvement in aviation related activities, such as, but not limited to, flight training, aviation clubs, employment in an aviation related field, membership in organizations such as EAA, AOPA, etc. An internship at an aviation company is highly encouraged.
  • Scholarships are awarded on the following criteria:
    • Financial need
    • Academic achievement

Award Details

Scholarships may be renewed for an additional year so long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress in an aviation-related field. Prior awardees are required to submit a full application to be considered. The Wichita Community Foundation is responsible for the investment, administration and governance of The Wichita Aero Club Humphrey Scholarship Fund.


The application must be electronically submitted by noon on May 15. No exceptions.


Essays (250 words for each question)


This scholarship is awarded based on financial need, so you’ll need to qualify and attach your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or SAR (Student Aid Report). FASFA is approximately 10-15 pages, while the SAR is 3-5 pages. Either submission must reflect financial information.


Must include the following
  • Extracurricular activities you have participated in during high school, such as student government, sports, and clubs, along with offices held and any special honors you have received.
  • Community Service including services-related activities in which you have participated in the past four years
  • Work experience you have had in the past four years, including your length of employment
