Grants totaling nearly $100,000 announced from the Wichita Community Foundation’s Tiller Memorial Fund
Wichita, Kan. – The Wichita Community Foundation (WCF) is distributing a total of $97,500 to six nonprofits from the George R. Tiller, M.D. Memorial Fund for the Advancement of Women’s Health at WCF.
The Fund seeks requests from nonprofits to continue Dr. Tiller’s vision of helping women help themselves. These grants provide comprehensive health services, support, and compassion to vulnerable women to enhance their ability to realize their dreams.
“In its fourth year of grantmaking, the Tiller Memorial Fund has awarded more than $335,000 to nonprofits,” said WCF President and CEO Shelly Prichard. “We are glad to assist in the administration of these grants, as it honors and memorializes a loved one.”
The 2018 grants will fund the following projects:
Central Plains Health Care Partnership | $12,500
Provide specialized treatment for women without health insurance coverage
Kansas Learning Center for Health, Inc. | $10,000
Implement the "You, Your Body and Puberty" program to fifth grade students in USD 259
Let's Talk, Inc. | $25,000
Deliver comprehensive sex education to area high schools that help students recognize their rights and responsibilities when contemplating relationships and sexuality
NAF Hotline Fund | $20,000
Contribute financial assistance to patients who need to travel to obtain care
Physicians for Reproductive Health, Inc. | $20,000
Supply providers with resources to be safer at home, work and in their communities
Thrive Allen County | $10,000
Offer long-term, implanted contraception to more people in Allen County
